Detailed maintenance steps for cylindrical roller bearings
Cylindrical roller bearings, as core components of mechanical systems, rely on systematic maintenance for their lifespan and performance. The following maintenance procedures are carried out step by step based on industry standards, covering disassembly preparation, cleaning and inspection, lubrication installation, and subsequent monitoring to ensure the stable operation of the bearings under harsh working conditions.
1. Disassembly and preparatory work
Tracking and positioning:Record the position of the bearing in the equipment, including the Bearing Housing number, corresponding roll number and operating parameters (such as working hours and load tonnage), to facilitate the tracking of wear trends and the optimization of maintenance plans .
Safe disassembly:Use a professional puller and heating equipment to remove the bearing housing, and avoid violent hammering operations; When disassembling, protect the encoder, seals and other precision components to prevent damage from bumps and knocks .
Component separation:For detachable cylindrical roller bearings (such as NU type), the inner and outer rings with interference fit can be easily removed by reversing the adjusting nut and placed on a rubber gasket to prevent damage .
2. Cleaning and Damage Assessment
Thorough cleaning:
Remove oil stains, dust and moisture, and soak and scrub in kerosene, mineral oil or neutral oil (viscosity 22cSt at 40°C); Avoid corrosive solvents. After cleaning, wipe dry with a lint-free cloth .
Visual inspection:
Visually inspect the raceway surface and cage for indentations, cracks or rust, with particular attention to mechanical damage caused by transportation or installation.
When small areas of peeling or cracks are found, use a grinding machine to repair the surface and polish the edges to ensure there are no stress concentration points .
Clearance and accuracy measurement:
Radial clearance inspection: For adjustable clearance bearings (such as NU type), insert a feeler gauge to the gap between the roller and the outer ring (depth exceeding half the length of the roller). Manual rotation test for flexibility of non-separable bearings. Jamming indicates too small clearance or installation deviation .
Dimension verification: After calibration with a dial indicator, measure the bearing bore at multiple points and compare it with the theoretical interference fit to avoid thermal expansion failure or excessive clearance.

3.Lubrication and Reinstallation
Lubricant management:
High-temperature resistant synthetic oil should be selected for high-temperature environments, and low-viscosity lubricating oil should be used for high-speed equipment. When lubricated with grease, the filling amount should account for 30% to 50% of the internal space. Excessive filling can easily cause heating .
Regularly replenish or replace the lubricant. Adjust the cycle according to the discoloration or caking state. The oil lubrication system should maintain an oil supply pressure of 0.1-0.3MPa.
Install precisely:
Before installation, check the fit dimensions. Interference fit can be achieved by heating the bearings or cooling the journal. Use a straight precision screwdriver to handle the C-shaped ring of the side cover. Do not apply heavy pressure or impact .
Ensure that the outer ring of the bearing is fully in contact with the seat shoulder and the inner ring is fully in contact with the shaft shoulder, eliminate the risk of tilting, and verify that the sealing device and lubrication channel are unobstructed .
4.Running tests and monitoring
No-load test run:After manually rotating to confirm smoothness, power on and conduct segmented acceleration tests (initial ≤500rpm, increment 500-1000 RPM in each stage) until the temperature stabilizes .
Dynamic parameter analysis:
The thermometer monitors the temperature rise. After continuous operation for one hour, the temperature rise does not exceed 40°C. Abnormal heating indicates insufficient lubrication or excessive preload.
The vibration sensor detects the spectrum. Periodic abnormal sounds caused by cage deformation or roller eccentric loading are excluded. When the vibration value exceeds the standard, the clearance needs to be corrected.
5.Regular maintenance and storage
Maintenance record:Establish an operation file. Recheck the clearance and vibration values after the first 100 hours of use. Subsequently, carry out comprehensive maintenance every 2000 hours or 6 months. Store in a dry and well-ventilated place. Replace the anti-rust oil film annually to prevent oxidation.
Environmental protection:Keep the working environment dust-free. Clean and apply oil immediately after contact with moisture. Strengthen anti-rust treatment after use in rainy days to prevent rusting and failure.
Integrating the above steps can significantly extend the service life of bearings and reduce the risk of early failure. In practical applications, parameters need to be fine-tuned in combination with working conditions to ensure the efficiency of maintenance.
