Maintenance of Angular Contact Bearings
⚙️Installation Method

Precision Control During Installation:Ensure the fit accuracy between the inner ring of the bearing and the shaft, as well as between the outer ring and the Bearing Housing during installation. Avoid excessive interference or insufficient interference. Excessive interference will cause excessive internal stress in the bearing, affecting its rotational flexibility; insufficient interference will result in loose fit and vibration and wear during operation.

Attention to Installation Direction:For double-row angular contact Ball Bearings with a ball insertion notch, avoid having the main axial load acting on the side with the notch. Ensure that the load is borne by the non-notched raceways to prevent damage to the bearing.

Installation Operation Specifications: During installation, handle with care to avoid knocking or colliding with the bearing. Prevent deformation or scratches on the inner ring, outer ring, or rolling elements to maintain the accuracy and service life of the bearing.

🛡️Maintenance Method

Lubrication Maintenance: Select appropriate grease or lubricating oil based on the operating conditions. Grease is suitable for medium and low-speed, well-sealed scenarios, while lubricating oil is suitable for high-speed, high-temperature scenarios. Regularly replenish lubrication to reduce friction between the rolling elements and raceways, reduce wear, and extend the service life of the bearing.

Temperature Control: The operating temperature of the bearing should be controlled within a reasonable range of -30°C to +150°C. Excessive temperature will cause the grease to fail and the performance of the bearing material to decline. Low temperature will affect rotational flexibility and require timely monitoring and adjustment of the operating conditions.

Sealing Protection: For bearings with dust covers (ZZ type) or sealing rings (2RS type), check the integrity of the sealing components to prevent dust and impurities from entering the bearing. At the same time, reduce grease leakage. For open bearings, regularly clean the surrounding dust to prevent contaminants from invading.

Regular Inspection: Regularly inspect the operating condition of the bearing, including rotational flexibility, vibration, and noise. If any abnormalities are found, stop the machine for troubleshooting to avoid the expansion of the fault; also, check for wear and replace the bearing if necessary.

🔧Tools required for installation and maintenance
A. Installation Tools (Core Essential)

Bearing Installation Tools:Preferably use a bearing press-iner (press sleeve type), which is suitable for different-sized bearings and prevents the components from deforming or getting scratched when directly hitting the bearing, ensuring that the installation force is evenly transmitted to the inner or outer ring (select the pressing position according to the mating method); for Small Bearings, a manual press clamp can be used, and for large bearings, a hydraulic press-in machine is required to improve installation efficiency and accuracy.

Auxiliary Tools for Assembly:

  • Measuring Tools: Micrometer, caliper (measure the mating dimensions between the shaft and the inner ring, the bearing seat and the outer ring, control the interference amount), angle ruler (calibrate the bearing installation angle to avoid inclination);
  • Cleaning Tools: Brush, anhydrous ethanol / kerosene (clean the oil stains and dust on the shaft, bearing seat and bearing surface to prevent impurities from affecting the mating accuracy);
  • Auxiliary Assembly Tools: Copper rod (use it to lightly tap to assist in positioning when necessary, avoiding direct hitting of the bearing body), guide sleeve (guide the bearing to be smoothly inserted into the shaft or bearing seat to prevent skew).
  • Heating Tools (for interference mating scenarios): Bearing heater (induction type, oil bath type are both available), heat the bearing to 80-100℃ (no more than 120℃ to prevent the bearing material performance from deteriorating), utilize the principle of thermal expansion and contraction to reduce assembly resistance and avoid hard pressing causing bearing damage; do not use open flames for direct heating.
B. Maintenance Tools (Daily and Regular Maintenance)
  • Disassembly Tools: Bearing puller (mechanical type, hydraulic type), used to avoid damaging the shaft and bearing seat when disassembling the bearing, suitable for different-sized bearings; small bearings can be assisted in removal with a disassembly hook.
  • Lubrication Tools: Grease gun (add lubricating grease, suitable for sealed bearings), oil pot / oil gun (add lubricating oil, suitable for open or high-speed operating bearings), ensure that the lubricating medium is evenly injected into the bearing interior.
  • Detection Tools:
    Temperature Detection: Infrared thermometer (monitor the operating temperature of the bearing, promptly detect abnormal overheating);
    Vibration / Noise Detection: Vibration detector (check the vibration and abnormal noise during the bearing operation, determine wear or lubrication abnormalities);
    Wear Detection: Micrometer (detect the radial and axial runout of the bearing, determine the degree of bearing wear).
  • Cleaning and Protection Tools: High-pressure air gun (clean the dust inside and around the bearing), sealing component installation tools (use when replacing the dust cover or sealing ring, avoid deformation of the sealing component), rust inhibitor / anti-corrosion agent (perform rust treatment on idle bearings or mating surfaces after maintenance).
